Lowell (Francis Cabot Jr.) House is built.

1864

(ca.) One of nine contiguous houses built as rental properties by shipping merchant and real estate investor John Lowell Gardner, it is located at 83 Marlborough Street. Its first occupants are the textile investor and his wife. Subsequent occupants include attorney and law professor John Chipman Gray. The building is converted to a lodging house in 1939 and into apartments in 1951.
