Cate (Isaac M.) House is built.

(ca.) One of nine contiguous houses built as rental properties by shipping merchant and real estate investor John Lowell Gardner, it is located at 79 Marlborough Street. Its first occupants are the merchant and his wife. Subsequent occupants include Richard Henry Dana Jr. and his wife from 1870 to 1872. The building is converted to apartments by 1959.
