Emmanuel Church is dedicated.
April 24, 1862
Architect: Alexander Estey. Designed in the Gothic Revival style, the church is located at 15 Newbury Street. The congregation was established on March 17, 1860 and met initially in Mechanics Hall. Frederick Huntington is the first rector. The building is enlarged by Frederick Allen in 1899. The Pilgrim’s Progress window by Frederick Crowninshield is added in 1900. An adjacent chapel is added in 1924.*
