Quincy (Josiah) is born in Quincy.

October 15, 1859

The grandson and great grandson and namesake of Boston mayors, Josiah Quincy graduates from Harvard College, becomes a lawyer, and lives at 82 Charles Street. He serves in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1887-1888, 1890-91), U.S. Assistant Secretary of State in the Cleveland administration, and as mayor of Boston (1896-99). Quincy dies on September 8, 1919.
