John Brown visits John Murray Forbes in Milton.

On his latest visit to Boston, Brown informs Forbes about affairs in Kansas, including the Ossawatomie incident, then stays the night in his home. The next day, Forbes entertains the pro-slavery governor of Missouri, who had placed a $3,000 bounty on Brown’s head. He, too, spends the night, staying in the same guest room that Brown had occupied.
