Mattapan Station is built.

1856

It is located at 1163 Blue Hill Avenue. The station serves the steam railroad which carries commuters to the Old Colony Railroad’s Boston terminal on Kneeland Street. The New Haven Railroad sells the station to the Boston Elevated Railway Company, which abandons the steam-powered service in favor of electric trolleys and sells it in the 1920s. The building houses the Terminal Barbershop in the 1950s, then various pizza restaurants.
