Williams Market is built.

[1851] Architect: Gridley Bryant. It is located at the corner of Washington Street and Dover Street at today’s 1138 Washington Street. The building contains a first-floor market with public meeting rooms on the second floor. It is converted to a theater in 1882,* and then to a popular discount store in 1950.*
