Malone Block is built.

Built for developer H.H. Hunnewell, it is located at 1654 – 1672 Washington Street. It is the only example of freestone or yellow sandstone construction in the South End. The buildings are subsequently converted to commercial use and 1672 Washington Street is demolished in the 1920s.
