January 1, 1855

It is located at today’s 600 Atlantic Avenue. The station is destroyed by the Great Fire of 1872, a fire, rebuilt in 1881 and operates and operates until August 22, 1896, when trains are re-routed to the Old Colony Station on Kneeland Street and the station is torn down to make way for construction of South Station.
