Agassiz (Louis A.) School (first) is built.

[1859] Named for the naturalist and Harvard professor, it is located at the corner of Burroughs Street and Brewer Street near today’s 18 Burroughs Street. It is replaced by a new building on the same site in 1893,* and another new building (third) on Child Street in 1972.*
