The Harvard professor, declares that it is evident that the earth was not formed in six days or in six thousand years, but over the course of millions of years. The Boston Evening Transcript runs an article two days later decrying “such speculations (because) they do much to shake a relying belief on the words of inspiration as given in the Book of Life.”
