Church of the Holy Trinity (first) holds its first service.

June 30, 1844

(June) Built of Roxbury Puddingstone and Maine granite, the building features twin towers and is located at 133 Shawmut Avenue. The congregation was established by German-Catholic immigrants. Louis Prang is among its members. After several pastors resign due to conflict within the congregation, the Society of Jesus assumes control of the parish in 1848 until 1961. A new church building is dedicated across the street in 1877.*
