Sewall and Day Cordage Company ropewalk is built.

1834

It is located along Stony Brook on the site of today’s Wentworth Institute near today’s 480 Parker Street (then Mill Dam Road). The company subsequently constructs a factory on the site that becomes the largest cordage mill in Boston and the source of the rigging for many of the Boston-built clipper ships. It continues to operate into the 1880s.
