Fishing syndicate is established on Commercial Point.

[1832-BLC] Founded by a group of a group of businessmen led by Elisha Preston, Nathaniel Thayer, and Charles Whitman, its purpose is to fish for codfish and hunt whales. The company subsequently builds two schooners, the Belle and the Preston, and buys two others, including the Charles Carroll. The fishing industry lasts until 1840.
