Lowell (Augustus) is born in Boston.

The son of John Amory and Elizabeth Cabot (Putnam) Lowell, Augustus Lowell marries Katherine Bigelow Lawrence on June 1, 1854, uniting two old New England families. Lowell lives on his estate, Bromley Vale, in Jamaica Plain and rents a home in Boston during the winter. He moves to Brookline in 1874. Augustus Lowell takes over the family’s manufacturing businesses and expands into other fields. He dies in Brookline on June 22, 1900, and is buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
