Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (first) is established.
1824
Originally the Boston Eye Infirmary, then Massachusetts Charitable Eye and Ear Infirmary, it is founded by Drs. John Jeffries and Edward Reynolds and incorporated in 1827. After operating in various rented locations, it moves to a new building at 176 Charles Street in 1841,* becomes affiliated with Harvard Medical School in 1866, adopts its current name in 1925, and moves to its current location on Charles Street in 1973.*
