Zion’s Herald is first published.
1823
It is published by Charles Moore and William Prowse from offices at today’s City Hall Plaza (then 72 Market Street). The first Methodist Episcopal newspaper in the U.S., it includes sermons, Biblical interpretations, and descriptions of Methodist beliefs. The paper subsequently moves to the Wesleyan Building, continues to publish in Boston until 1828, and then moves to Maine.
