Leverett Street Jail opens.

June 20, 1822

Architect: Alexander Parris. The Town Jail (fourth), it is located near today’s 35 Lomasney Way. The new building also houses the House of Correction, the Boston Municipal Court (which moves from School Street, but then returns to Court Street in 1831), and the Suffolk County Court House (which moves to Court Square in 1836*). The jail is replaced by a new building (fifth) on Charles Street in 1851.*
