Ranney (Ambrose) is born in Vermont.

Ambrose Ranney comes to Boston tin 1847 o practice law. He is elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1862 and later serves three terms in Congress. Ranney lives at 577 Massachusetts Avenue (then 26 Chester Square) from the late 1850s until his death on March 5, 1899.
