Whitney (Anne) is born in Watertown.

September 2, 1821

Anne Whitney studies art in Philadelphia and Europe, and returns to Boston in 1876. She maintains a studio at 6 Byron Street. Whitney becomes one of the leading sculptors in New England, producing a number of public statues in and around Boston, although her gender prevents her from receiving one particular commission in 1878.* She dies in Boston on January 23, 1915.
