Remains of Rev. Francois Matignon are interred in St. Augustine’s Cemetery.

December 15, 1818

(ca.) Matignon died on September 19, 1818, and was initially buried in the tomb of businessman John Magner in the Granary Burying Ground. But after land was purchased for a Catholic cemetery in South Boston, his remains are disinterred and taken in a procession of some 1,000 people to the new cemetery in South Boston.
