Pirate Samuel Tully is hanged in South Boston.
December 10, 1812
Tully is hanged before some 3,000 people on Nook Hill in the area of today’s C Street and Third Street. Prior to his execution, Tully gives a written apology for his crimes that comes to be known as “The Last Words of S Tully” and survives today, then, according to one account, is “launched into eternity without a struggle.”
