Boston Medical Library (first) is established.

1805

It is located initially in rented rooms. For many years the only independent medical library in the U.S., it moves to a new building (first) on Boylston Place in 1879,* then another new building (second) on the Fenway in 1901.* It merges with the Countway Library of Harvard Medical School in 1936 and moves to Shattuck Street in 1965.*
