Swan (Hepzibah) House is built.
1805
Architect: Charles Bulfinch. Designed in the Federal style and built by Hepzibah Swan for her daughter, also Hepzibah, and husband John Howard, it is located at 17 Chestnut Street. Subsequent occupants include poet and preacher Cyrus Bartol and Julia Ward Howe.
