Mayhew (Rev. Jonathan) School (first) is built.

(April) The first public school in the neighborhood, it is located at the corner of Hawkins Street and Chardon Street. The school is named for the pastor of the West Church in 1821. It is replaced by a new building nearby in 1847.*
