Scollay’s Buildings are built.
1795
Built by Patrick Jeffrey, the wood-frame buildings are located at the intersection of today’s Cambridge Street, Court Street, and Tremont Street at today’s 3 Center Plaza (then 6 Cornhill). They are subsequently purchased by apothecary William Scollay and the area comes to be called Scollay Square in 1838. The buildings are torn down in 1871.*
