Memorial Hall is built.

1791

[1794] Designed in the Georgian style, it is located at today’s 14 Green Street. It is built as a home for wealthy merchant Samuel Dexter, who soon becomes a state senator, U.S. Representative and Senator, and Secretary of War and the Treasury under President John Adams. The house is purchased by Giles Alexander in 1800, who improves on the estate’s gardens. The property is purchased by the Abraham Lincoln Post Number 11 of the Grand Army of the Republic in 1887 and is now used as a Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Hall.
