Middleton-Glapion House is built.

1787

Also known as the George Middleton House, it is located at today’s 5 – 7 Pinckney Street. Built by two immigrants from the French West Indies, Col. George Middleton, a leader of an all-black company called the “Bucks of America” in the Revolutionary War and then a livery man, and barber Louis Glapion, it is the oldest house built by African-Americans in Boston and the oldest house on Beacon Hill. It is joined for a time with 1 and 3 Pinckney Street, which are subsequently detached and joined to 5 Pinckney Street.
