Clap (Bela and Caleb) Houses are built.

1787

The wood-frame houses are located at 44 and 46 Temple Street. Thought to have been built by the two housewrights , they are among the first built on Beacon Hill. The two houses are subsequently combined and used by clergy of the Bowdoin Street Meeting House. The building is destroyed by a fire in the 1970s.
