Norfolk House Centre (first) is built.

[1786] Built as a home for Joseph Ruggles, it is located at today’s 4 -20 John Eliot Square. The wood-frame building is expanded as a hotel and public house in 1826 that is first known as Highland Hall and then Norfolk House. It is replaced by a new building (second) in 1853.*
