Alger (Cyrus) is born in Bridgewater.

Cyrus Alger works initially for his father in the foundry business in Easton, and at the invitation of Gen. Winslow comes to Boston to start a foundry in 1809. He forms his own company in 1814, and subsequently buys and fills land in today’s Fort Point Channel area. Alger serves on the Common Council and the Board of Aldermen (1824 and 1827). He dies on February 4, 1856.
