Tudor (William) is born in Boston.

January 28, 1779

The son of judge William and Della (Jarvis) Tudor, and brother of Frederic Tudor, William Tudor graduates from Harvard College, and works initially for merchant John Codman, then for his brother Frederic. He helps found the North American Review and serves as its first editor. Tudor serves in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1781-94) and Senate (1801), and as Suffolk County Clerk of Courts in 1816. He introduces a popular description of Boston in 1818,* and lives on Court Square (then Prison Lane). Tudor serves as a U.S. diplomat to various countries in South America beginning in 1823. He dies in Rio de Janeiro on March 9, 1830.
