British transports anchor at Nantasket Roads outside Boston Harbor.
June 16, 1776
Unaware of the evacuation of Boston that had taken place three months earlier, the George and the Annabella arrive, carrying two battalions of the 71st Highlanders. After a fierce battle with American privateers, the ships and the soldiers are captured. Thirty-seven of the Highlanders are killed and buried on an island in Boston Harbor.
