Freedom Petitioners bring suit in the General Court.

(April) In their petition for freeing enslaved residents of Massachusetts, Felix Holbrook and three others declare, “We expect great things from men who have made such a noble stand against the designs of their fellow-men to enslave them.” When the General Court fails to act, they bring another petition in 1777.
