London Bookstore (second) opens.

July 29, 1771

Operated by Henry Knox, it is located on Cornhill opposite Williams Court near today’s 238 Washington Street. Knox subsequently sells military strategy books to British officers, and uses his relationship with them to discover their plans. The store closes in 1775 and is reopened by Knox’s brother William in 1777.
