Ship laden with captured Spanish silver and gold docks at Long Wharf.

1748

The captain of the ship, which is owned by the Quincy family, had tricked a Spanish frigate into surrendering by dressing up logs in coats to look like soldiers and camouflaging others to look like canon. It takes four carts to carry the 163 chests of silver and gold from the ship to the Quincy wine cellar on Washington Street.
