Sarah Kemble Knight accompanies a post rider from Boston to New York.
October 2, 1704
After traveling with the postal rider to New Haven, she remains for some time, then resumes her trip and arrives in New York City on December 8, 1704. Her diary, subsequently published, provides witty and descriptive accounts of the trip, which she acknowledges was “an unheard of thing for an unaccompanied woman to do.”
