Charter House is built.

Built by William Clough, it is located on today’s Charter Street in the North End. It receives its subsequent name from the mistaken belief that the original Massachusetts Bay Colony charter had at one time been hidden inside. After being declared unsafe for occupancy, the building is demolished in 1931.
