Praying Indians are honored.

June 20, 1676

General Court, meeting in Charlestown, presents medallions to the Christian Indians who fought with the colonists in King Philip’s War. The medals are brass coins with an image of an Indian on one side and an inscription, by Edward Rawson on the other, which reads, “In the present Warr with the Heathen Natives of this Land/They giving us peace and mercy at their hands.”
