Native American attacks the Dorchester home of John Minot.
July 31, 1675
(July) The Native American enters the home on a Sunday, when most of the family is at church and only the maid and children are home. The maid shoots the intruder with a musket and throws hot coals on him to repeal the attack. After the Native American is later found dead in nearby woods, the maid is given a medal by the General Court, inscribed with the words “She slew the Narragansett hunter.”
