Cambridge, MA: Samuel Greene and Marmaduke Johnson, 1663. (Dec.) The first bible published in today’s U.S., it is transliterated by Eliot using English letters to approximate the sounds of the Massachuset dialect. The full title is: Mamusse wunneetupanatamve Up-Biblum God Nanneewe Nukkone Testament Kah Wonk Wusku Testament. It means, “The Whole Holy His-Bible God Both Old Testament and Also New Testament. The only remaining copy of the original book is owned by the Roxbury Latin School and kept at the Boston Public Library. A revised edition is published in 1685.
