First Church in Boston service is disrupted.
April 30, 1658
Thomas Harris, a Quaker recently arrived from Barbados, stands up in the meeting house and warns that the pride and intolerance of residents will bring a “dreadful, terrible day of the Lord” on the town. He is punished by being lashed severely the next day. General Court bars Quakers from the colony “under pain of death” in October 1658.
