Boston Selectmen are first elected.

[3/7-Thwing] Originally called the “Ten Men,” “Town’s Men,” or “Occasions,” they are first called Selectmen in 1643. The first legislative body elected to govern Boston, they are elected annually beginning in 1645 (1647-Gilman) and replaced by a mayor and a bi-cameral legislative body in 1822.*
