Chelsea is first settled by Europeans.

Originally Winnisimmett, it is begins as a trading post by Samuel Maverick, who moved here from Weymouth and builds what is later called the first permanent house in New England. Chelsea is incorporated as a town in 1739 and as a city in 1857.
