Bachmann, John. Bird’s eye view of Boston

1850

It depicts Boston as it would appear from a point above the Back Bay, looking out towards the harbor.  Bachmann was a Swiss lithographer who move to the United States in 1848, and produced “a series of bird’s eye maps that depict American landscapes in ways that were groundbreaking around the mid-nineteenth century.”  He publishes another view of Boston in 1877.*
